June 1

Left OKC about 9:45 on our way to Russell, Kansas. It is 326 mile drive over some of the flattest land I've ever seen. Kansas is known as the "wheat state" and I know why - wheat as far as you can see in every direction. Jenna drove from Blackwell, Okla. to just west of Salina, Kansas. We made good time and averaged between 11.5 and 13 mpg. Diesel prices are less then $4 per gallon, but just barely. Hope it will go down some! We will strike out early tomorrow for Loveland, Co. Loveland is about 410 miles from here so it will probably be a long day. Nothing too exciting to take pictures of, so no pics today. We did see a "Drug Inspection Station" in Okla. Several cop cars pulling cars over at random. They had at least one guy in handcuffs. I've seen cops stop and search cars, but here they had signs along the highway telling you a "Drug Inspection Station" was one mile ahead. Until tomorrow --
Happy Trails!
