June 2

My first try at blogging pictures! We left Russell, Kansas this morning at 7:30 and arrived in Loveland at 4:30. It was a terrible drive. We had 30-50 MPH winds from the south. We were going west on I-70. There was a high wind advisory for high profile vehicles - that included us!! It was a fight to keep the truck on the road. It was a little over 400 miles - most of it going west. Loveland is about 60 miles north of Denver. Our campground is at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, not far from Estes Park and Rocky Mtn. Nat. Park. The mountains are completely snow-capped, but in our picture they look kind of like clouds. Our campsite backs up to Big Thompson River - a swiftly moving river. Currently we are sitting on the bank drinking a beer and some wine and recovering from our day. Tomorrow we set out for Buffalo, Wyoming - about 310 miles, I think! Should be a pretty drive along the eastern edge of the Rockies. Hopefully the wind won't be blowing too hard. Until tomorrow - Happy Trails!
